Tesla Model S ready for a bioweapon defence upgrade

Tesla could be set to provide a couple of major new options for its Model S electric car.

Elon Musk’s ambitious electric car company may have just unveiled a new vehicle in the shape of the affordable Tesla Model 3, but it’s not forgetting about the older vehicles in the range.

According to The Verge, potential Tesla Model S drivers can look forward to the addition of the Bioweapon Defence Mode from the Tesla Model X some time this week.

Tesla’s Bioweapon Defence Mode essentially seals the car by creating positive pressure within its cabin, and then provides extensive air filtration against pollution, allergies, and even bioweapons. Yes, really.

In the Model X, this resulted in an air filter that was ten times bigger than rival offerings, as well as a secondary filter  that was also larger than most primary examples.

That’s not all for Model S upgrades. The sleek sedan is also in line to receive a new 100kWh battery option. Currently the largest battery you can specify for the Model S is 90kWh.

Earlier reports claimed that the Model S would be getting more luxurious options in the form of LED headlights, ventilated seats, new colours and a modest tweak to the nose design – all accompanied by a slight bump in the final price.

This isn’t the first time the Tesla Model S has been spruced up. The car gained an Autopilot mode last year.
