Tado, the successful German smart home startup, launches new v3 Smart Thermostat and Smart Radiator Thermostats.
Good news for anyone of thinking of making their home smarter as you can now control your heating using Siri. Tado’s v3 Smart Thermostat, announced today at IFA 2016, adds support for Apple HomeKit and an improved interface.
It’s available as part of a starter kit, or can be rented directly from Tado for £6 a month.
Tado, which uses geo-location to intelligently control your home’s heating as people come and go, has also added multi-zone support.
These new features arguably complete what was an already accomplished product.
We gave the Tado Smart Thermostat an 8/10 when we reviewed it January 2015, saying: “It is stylish, simple and intuitive, and does its job brilliantly.”
However, we felt it was best suited to flats and small homes due to the lack of multi-zone support – the new radiator valves solve that problem.
Like the Honeywell Evohome system, the Tado Smart Radiator Thermostats replace the regulator valve so you can control the temperature of each room.
It’s a neat solution which, combined with Tado’s already impressive app and service, make it a great option. And, of course, existing users can add the radiator thermostats to make their existing systems smarter.
The addition of HomeKit support, meanwhile, will prove very handy once iOS 10 launches with Apple’s new Home app. If you’re an Apple user, Tado could be your best bet for smart heating.
