Street Fighter 5: Capcom to dish out ‘severe’ punishments for rage quitters

Street Fighter 5 Ryu

Street Fighter 5 will hand out ‘severe punishments’ to players who quit matches early, Capcom has announced.

The developer faced criticism after it was discovered that players who quit fights early faced no form of punishment. Players on the brink of a loss were able to maintain their win streak by simply exiting the contest, much to the frustration of their opponents.

However, in an update on Capcom’s blog, the developer has said it will be addressing this issue.

“We are working on a permanent solution to this problem, though we don’t have an exact date to share with you at the moment. That said, we are going to take direct action starting next week to punish those players who are abusing the system.

This punishment will be severe for the worst offenders.”

Capcom also noted it is continuing its attempts to improve matchmaking for all users.

"Much like the last update, matchmaking for both Ranked and Casual modes is working as intended for most users, but we do understand this is not the case for some players in Europe, the Middle East and various other regions.

"Several improvements were made this past week that should have decreased the wait time for many users in those territories, but we will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates when additional improvements are made."

plus a few minutes of matchmaking ban. Gotta get the ones that don't care about their W/L record too!

All other games count your early quit as a forfeit which is a loss. What was CAPCOM thinking in not counting rage quitting as a loss in the first place? Idiots. You don't need to 'severely' punish rage quitters when it is your programming fault in the first place. Just give the quitter a loss and reset their win streak. Though, you could do something fun at the same time such as causing their characters (no matter which they choose) to be substituted with a stupid looking chicken for a few battles or days. That way when someone uses the chicken door, their next few opponents will get to see that they are a rage quitter when they face one.

that should have been included in the system to begin with. Oh, wait, I forgot they released a $60 beta, damn, sorry i should have thought of that first. Hey Capcom no matter how much you try to deflect the issues to other things, we still are waiting for the fixes to this game, so shut up and fix it, or give us some freebies to keep us interested in this beta.
