TomTom has announced the latest celebrity to voice its sat nav devices with the renowned wit and intellect Stephen Fry adding his mellifluent tones to your journey home.

TomTom’s last foray into the world of celebrity-voiced guidance was with the rather gruffer Jeremy Clarkson, though his vocie will only be available in a limited number of devices thanks to a mix-up with the BBC’s code of conduct.

For those looking for a more serene experience on their journey homeward, Stephen Fry will offer an altogether more calming experience, proffering advice like:

“Now when possible, could you turn around. Ideally don't do it when impossible.  Bless!"

and

"So, let's see now, after 300 yards turn left then go straight on.  This is going awfully well isn't it?”

Developed by Locutio Voice Technologies, the voice of the actor, author, journalist, broadcaster, film director, uber-tweeter and all-round gadget lover is now available to download from www.tomtom.com priced £7.95.

The download will work with most TomTom sat navs including the TomTom GO LIVE 1005 which just won our prestigious TrustedReviews 2011 Award for Best SatNav.

Fry will join a pantheon of this centuries' greatest minds including Billy Connolly, Homer Simpson, Spongebob Squarepants and our favourite, Brian Blessed. If you want to get a preview of the instructions from Stephen Fry, you can listen to them here.
