Rogue One: A Star Wars Story – Watch the first trailer here

There’s no question: Star Wars The Force Awakens was a huge success. Can Rogue One match its acclaim?

The first official teaser trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has been posted online.

The film is a spin-off from the main nine-episode franchise, and follows Rebel fighters in an attempt to steal Death Star plans before the events of A New Hope.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is set to release in cinemas on December 16, 2016.

The film stars Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything) as rebel Jyn Erso, with other case members including Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Jonathan Aris, and Alistair Petrie.

The movie is helmed by British director Gareth Edwards, who also directed 2014’s Godzilla reboot.
