Star Wars: Battlefront AT-STs

Star Wars: Battlefront will feature playable AT-STs, but no iron sights for rifles.

According to a new interview with DICE Executive Producer Patrick Bach, Star Wars: Battlefront will not allow players to aim down the ironsights of their weapons.

This may be bad news for those expecting a traditional Battlefront or even Battlefield experience from the upcoming Star Wars game.

However, we for one are pleased that DICE isn’t just taking a Star Wars theme onto the usual Battlefield-esque template.

“There are no iron sights in Star Wars, on the ordinary blasters,” said Bach in the OXM interview (via GamesRadar). “You have scopes on some rifles, but there are no ironsights.”

There’s no word on whether this lack of gun scopes will extend to the multiplayer portions of Star Wars: Battlefront, as these ironsights would usually help improve accuracy and stability.

“We’re not taking into account what we’ve done before, because I think that would be disrespectful to the fans, and to what we’re trying to achieve here,” added Bach. “A lot of the things you saw in the game have nothing to do with anything we’ve done before. Some features of course resemble [our other shooters], because we want to make the best possible shooter, but in general we’ve tried to do something completely unique.”

It has also emerges via the @EAStarWars Twitter account that Star Wars: Battlefront will allow players to take control of the AT-STs — those funny little chicken walkers.

Star Wars: Battlefront launches on November 17 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

DICE has already confirmed that the game will come with 12 multiplayer maps including one set on the Sullust planet.

EA Games expects the game to sell 9-10 million units.
