EA has revealed the first details of Star Wars Battlefront’s new Drop Zone mode.
The first details for Star Wars Battlefront’s new Drop Zone mode have been revealed, showcasing a “King of the hill” style mode with some unique twists.
Drop Zone mode will see two teams of up to eight players compete against each other to capture and control drop pods that fall into the atmosphere during matches.
The first team to simultaneously control five pods will be victorious, or whoever controls the most when a time limit is reached.
If control of a certain pod constantly changes, a new pod will automatically be thrown into the mix to heighten the tension.
You will have to get up close and personal with a pod in order to control it, but stay too close for too long and you may fall victim to an orbital strike.
Players can deploy turrets and droids to defend captured points whilst working co-operatively with their team to capture as many pods as possible.

No gameplay footage for the new mode has been released, but EA has released a single screenshot, which you can see above.

“This goes hand in hand with our design philosophy behind many of the game modes in Star Wars Battlefront,” lead level designer Dennis Brännvall said.
“We’re promoting the idea of a fast, action-packed game where you need to be mobile and think on your feet. Camping doesn’t really pay off.”
Drop Zone mode will playable on the planets of Tatooine, Hoth, Sullust and Endor.
A beta for Star Wars Battlefront is coming this October.
Star Wars Battlefront will launch for PS4, Xbox One and PC on November 19.
