PlanetSide 2 from Daybreak Game Company has been given a release date, and it's been confirmed that it will be free to play on PS4.
The massively multiplayer team first person shooter will be coming to PS4 on June 23 in Europe and North America having been in closed beta since the start of the year. It's a console exclusive, although it's already been available on PC for two and a half years.
When we say that PlanetSide 2 will be free to play, we mean it. You won't even need to have a PS Plus subscription to play it.
PlanetSide 2 is a class-based multiplayer shooter set on a grand scale in a sprawling sci-fi landscape. It's all about large factions battling for territorial control in huge open levels.
On PC, the game recently set a Guinness World Record for the most players online in a single FPS battle. 1,158 players took part in a single fight.
