Spotify finally adds Chromecast support for iOS and Android apps
Spotify has released an update for iOS and Android that brings a long-requested feature. Yes, from today, Spotify works with Google’s Chromecast devices.
The update initially will enable Spotify users to beam audio to the second-gen Chromecast as well as the new Chomecast Audio, which brings streaming prowess to any pair of ‘dumb’ speakers.
The streaming giant has promised to roll out support to the existing Chromecast too, but that’ll take a little while longer.
On its iTunes and Google Play listing, Spotify confirmed: “New: It’s finally here, folks. Play Spotify on your home speakers and TV with the new Google Chromecast. Rolling out to existing Chromecasts soon.”

The What’s On section shows a multitude of options from the top streaming portals, which means users don’t have to scan through individual apps.
The package arrives as a bonafide rival to the new Apple TV set-top box, which offers a universal search tool and access to the App Store, albeit for a much higher price point.
