And in all likelihood will probably miss it.
Oh Spore why do you taunt us so? If it isn’t a juicy rumour that you’ll be working your way onto the Mac and possibly the Wii then you’re teasing us with a release date set so far into the future that we’ll all probably be driving hover cars and getting our daily nutrients in tablet form. Still, assuming there are no delays the 7th of September 2008 is going to be a good day for gamers.
The trailer unveiling the date is pretty sparse on details, so there’s no knowing whether this will be PC only or a multi-platform release but I couldn’t care less though because all the evidence suggests that Spore is going to be one heck of a game whatever platform you use. A thought only reaffirmed from having read the slew of hands-on previews which have been published today – I suggest you check out our ex-sister site bit-tech for the lowdown.
Helping to assuage the nagging feeling that Spore is still likely to slip back beyond the scheduled release date is assurance from designer Will Wright (he of SimCity and The Sims fame) that the game is pretty near finished that the final stages are just adding the necessary polish. If you’re looking for more information then, to quote the man himself:
“While we finish up the game over the next few months, we’ll be sharing more information with you and other fans. As a newsletter subscriber, you’ll be among the first to get new Spore information, screenshots, videos and other cool features from the Spore team. Check out our launch date teaser, and of course you can visit Spore.com for updates anytime“.
Only 206 more days to wait…
