SpeedRunners sprints out of Steam early access

After three years of development in early access, SpeedRunners is finally out in its finished form.

The popular title has sold over 1 million copies since its initial release, benefitting hugely from its origins in early access.

"Following in the footsteps of games like Minecraft and Kerbal Space Program, SpeedRunners has benefitted immensely from releasing 'early' and reaping feedback from its community," said CEO Alex Nichiporchik. "SpeedRunners wouldn't be where it is without 100,000s of players guiding development."

Developer DoubleDutch Games has plenty of plans for additional content, which it will continue to add to the game with future updates.

Some of these include a “Mario Kart style story mode” and a “TF2-like Trails Shop” alongside a number of other features and tweaks.

The next step for Speedrunners is a console release, although the developer is yet to announce any specific plans.

All players who bought the game in early access will receive the developer’s first game - No Time to Explain - for free.

It’s a fun little game, and it’s lovely to see developers paying back their fans.

SpeedRunners is now available on Steam for £10.99
