Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact and SmartWatch 3 leaked prior to IFA reveal

Sony is apparently preparing to launch a new compact tablet and wearable device to complement a refreshed smartphone line up at the IFA tech show in Berlin next week, according to a new leak.

Official-looking Sony promotional materials emerged over the weekend, showing off the rumoured Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact and what appears to be a new SmartWatch or SmartBand-branded device.

The post, which appeared on the Xperia Facebook page, showed a medium-sized tablet device and a waterproof wearable. The post has now been removed, a sure sign it was uploaded by accident.

The materials showed a user sat by a swimming pool, suggesting the new tablet will boast the same waterproof technologies as Sony’s Xperia smartphone range.

In previous leaks the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact has been pegged as having an 8-inch Full HD screen and a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor.

Speculation has also suggested there’ll be 3GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. An 8-megapixel rear facing camera is also thought to be on board.

If Sony does launch the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact it’ll be the first time the company has launched a tablet smaller than 10.1-inches.

The firm is also expected to launch new flagship smartphones at IFA next week, with many observers expecting a Xperia Z3 and Compact companion to be on show at the Sony stand.
