Sony Xperia Z5 smartphone trio finally launches at IFA 2015
Sony has just launched not one, not two, but three new smartphones at the IFA 2015 technology trade show in Berlin.
That’s no surprise – we’ve been expecting these handsets for quite some time thanks to incessant leaks ahead of the event.
Nonetheless, it’s nice to have official confirmation of the flagship trio.
The first smartphone is the Sony Xperia Z5, the middle entrant of the three new handsets.

It packs in a 5.2in 1,920 x 1,080-pixel display, a Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM, a 23-megapixel camera and a 2,900mAh battery.
Next up is the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact, the spiritual successor to last year’s Sony Xperia Z3 Compact.
As such, it features a smaller 4.6in panel with a lower 1,280 x 270 resolution.
The specs are basically the same, although Sony has dropped the RAM to 2GB, and the device uses a smaller 2,700mAh battery.
The third device is the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium, a 5.5in handset with one standout feature – a 4K display.

Otherwise, it boasts largely similar internal specs as its smartphone siblings, including the much-maligned Snapdragon 810 processor.
However, it includes a bigger battery to power that massive 4K display, of course – at 3,430mAh.
All three devices will run on Google’s Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system. That means you probably shouldn’t expect an Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade until some time in 2016.

Both the Sony Xperia Z5 and Sony Xperia Z5 Compact release dates will fall in October 2015.
The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium, however, won’t be with us until November.
