Sony Xperia Z4 rumours are starting to come through thick and fast, with latest reports suggesting the handset will land with a 5.4-inch QHD display.
Although previously tipped to follow the LG G3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 4 in adopting a 2160 x 1440 pixel QHD panel, the latest Xperia Z4 leaks have suggested the device will be marginally smaller than previously thought.
While a 5.4-inch panel would see the Z4 grow over the existing, 5.2-inch Xperia Z3, it would mean the handset lines up marginally smaller than either of its current QHD rivals. It had previously been suggested the device would echo the LG G3 and adopt a 5.5-inch panel.
As well as screen size, the latest Xperia Z4 leaks – which have surfaced through an anonymous tipster – have offered an early insight into the phone’s power unit and potential release date.
Despite the Z3 having only been unveiled back in September, CES 2015 conference.">the Z4 has been tipped for a formal unveiling as early as January and the Las Vegas-based CES 2015 conference.
While we would expect the device to be held off until early March and MWC 2015, PhoneArena has suggested the iPhone 6 rival will enter the realms of reality during Sony’s CES press conference on January 5.
Further Xperia Z4 features mooted include the same 2.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor found within the Note 4 and the previously tipped 4GB of RAM.
While screen and processing potential will see the Z4 echo a number of existing devices, camera quality could be where the currently unconfirmed handset comes into its own.
Earlier this month Sony unveiled a new 20.7-megapixel IMX230 camera sensor expected to feature within the Z4. Set to land early next year, the new sensor is tipped to offer near DSLR-quality images and improved focussing and low-light capabilities.
Given the less than official avenues through which these Z4 details have emerged, we must suggest the handset's claimed specs are taken with a pinch of salt for now.
