The handset has been officially unveiled and now Sony is giving consumers a choice to make, with four Sony Xperia Z3 colours to be available at launch.

With black and white devices no longer enough to satisfy increasingly demanding consumers, Sony has followed the likes of Apple and HTC in bestowing its flagship phone with metallic hues.

“Colour is the final piece to talk about,” Calum MacDougall, Sony’s Director of Xperia Marketing said in unveiling the Xperia Z3.

“Of course it comes in standard black and white, but we have two new colours for the Xperia Z3 – a copper colour and a silver green colour.

He added: “Both are metallic and premium in feel to offer a different colour range and pallet.”

Aside from their different finishes, the four Sony Xperia Z3 colours feature identical features lists and performances. All four also feature IP65 and IP68 dust and water resistant certification.

As well as adopting new hues, the Sony Xperia Z3 has been given something of a design refresh, dropping millimetres and grams to boast a slimmer, lighter frame than the preceding Xperia Z2.

“Design is always a key part to the Sony story,” MacDougall said. “The Z3 continues our ‘Omnibalance’ design which you will have seen in the Z1 and Z2. This is a design which is now increasingly familiar and recognised by consumers.”

The new Sony Xperia Z3 features only marginal performance improvements over the Z2. It pairs a 5.2-inch Full HD display with a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and 3GB of RAM.

Running a 20.7-megapixel rear-mounted camera, the handset boasts a claimed two day battery life alongside 16GB of internal storage and 4K video recording.
