Sony Xperia Z2 flagship launched at MWC 2014

Sony has launched the Sony Xperia Z2 smartphone at MWC 2014, confirming all the previous leaks.

The Xperia Z2 offers 4K video recording, 5.2-inch full HD display and a brand new Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor.

“With Xperia Z2 we have taken our premium Z series to the next level, delivering unique experiences that only Sony can offer,” said Kunimasa Suzuki, President and CEO of Sony Mobile Communications. “We have redefined the smartphone once again through our camera. Xperia Z2 offers an innovative experience that captures memories in stunning detail through 4K video shooting, or offers new ways to use the camera with our unique Xperia camera apps.”

Sony Xperia Z2 Features

The Sony Xperia Z2 features a 5.2-inch full HD Triluminous display running on a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapragon 801 Krait CPU with 3GB of RAM and an Adreno 330 GPU.

Powered by a 3,200mAh battery, the Xperia Z2 comes packed in a body that is just 8.2mm thick, despite its superb camera functionality.

In the rear is the same 20.7-megapixel Exmor RS for mobile CMOS image sensor with Sony G Lens and Sony Bionz for mobile image processing engine as the Sony Xperia Z1.

However, the Xperia Z2 adds new software functionality like the ability to record 4K resolution video with SteadyShot and new Timeshift and AR video modes.

Of course, the Sony Xperia Z2 is dust resistant and waterproof like its predecessor, and comes with NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE and 4G LTE connectivity.

Sony Xperia Z2 Release Date and Price

The Sony Xperia Z2 release date has been scheduled for March, with no pricing details announced as yet.
