Sony Xperia Z UK release date set for February 28

The Sony Xperia Z UK release date has been confirmed by network provider Three, with the smartphone retailer making the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean handset available for pre-order ahead of a February 28 launch.

Available for pre-order now, Three has listed Sony’s new flagship handset with a February 28 Sony Xperia Z UK release date, a launch that would see the 5-inch Samsung Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5 rival hit retailers in the midst of MWC 2013, a launch platform for many manufacturer’s latest handsets.

Set to launch on a selection of pay monthly contracts, Three has confirmed the Sony Xperia Z UK release date whilst offering those eager to snap up the IP57 certified water resistant handset added incentive. The first 1,000 people to pre-order the Sony Xperia Z through the numerically named network will see their handset paired with a free pair of Sony MDR-1R headphones worth £299.

For those not wanting to be tethered to a 24 month contract, Three has also confirmed that the Sony Xperia Z UK release date, which is set to see the handset launch in both black and white colour schemes, will see the device made available for launch on a pay-as-you-go basis with a lofty £449.99 price tag

Sony Xperia Z Specs

Officially unveiled at CES 2013 last month, the Sony Xperia Z is a high-end handset set to rival the likes of the BlackBerry Z10 and Google Nexus 4 for smartphone supremacy.

With a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm processor running the show, the svelte, 7.9mm thick Sony Xperia Z specs sheet sees the handset, which weighs in at 146g, line up with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD, in tow.

Featuring a 13.1-megapixel rear-mounted camera, the dust and water resistant Sony Xperia Z also plays host to 1080p Full HD video recording capabilities, a second, 2.2-megapixel forward facing camera and a hearty 2,330mAh Lithium Ion battery.

Arguably one of the handset’s key selling points, the Sony Xperia Z specs sheet is completed by the handset’s stunningly expansive 5-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display which features a 1920 x 1080p resolution and 441 pixels-per-inch image density.
