Sony Xperia M unveiled

Sony has launched the Sony Xperia M, the latest entry-level addition to its new range of smartphones.

Complementing the existing Sony Xperia Z, Xperia L and Xperia SP smartphone, the Sony Xperia M looks to be another entry-level model to the Xperia range.

“Consumers looking for their first steps into the world of Xperia smartphones would be well-advised to look at Xperia M or Xperia M Dual”, said Calum MacDougall, Director of Xperia Marketing at Sony Mobile Communications. “Both models benefit from Sony’s proven innovation and engineering expertise, and are perfect for those who want the premium technology and experiences often only associated with high-end models.”

Sony Xperia M Features
The Sony Xperia M features a 4-inch FWVGA touchscreen display with 854 x 480p resolutions, powered by a 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor with 1GB of RAM.

Playing host to 4GB of internal storage, the Sony Xperia M does offer a microSD card slot supporting cards up to 32GB for images and music.

It has a 5-megapixel rear camera offering autofocus and HDR capabilities, with an unknown spec camera in front, but we’d guess it’s VGA.

Available in black, white, purple and yellow (for the single SIM variety), the Sony Xperia M has the same OmniBalance design as the Sony Xperia M, but lacks the transparent element of the Xperia L and Xperia SP. Instead it has a multi-coloured notification light that alerts the user when they have an incoming message, email or other content.

The Sony Xperia M also packs Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and screen mirroring technology, but won’t support 4G LTE networks.

Sony Xperia M Release Date and Price
The Sony Xperia M release date has been set for Q3 2013, with dual and single SIM varieties of the entry-level handset available.
