Sony is certainly placing less of its eggs in the smartphone basket, but if this leaked handset comes to fruition, it could represent a serious return to form for the Japanese giant.
A GSM Arena reader sent in these photos of a purported new flagship handset with a rather radical redesign compared with the Xperia Z range.
There’s new positioning for the rear-facing camera and dual LED flash, while the pictured handset is a little less square than previous releases, with the curved left and right edges and flat back.
According to the person behind the link, the handset with a model name F8331 will feature a larger screen than the disappointing Xperia X, but resolution will remain at 1080p.

The report says both rear and front-facing cameras will be capable of capturing 4K video, while charging will take place through a USB Type-C port. The leak snaps also show Sony will be sticking with the 3.5mm headphone jack on top of the device.
This previously rumoured handset looks likely to make its debut at the forthcoming IFA show, where Sony traditionally outs new smarties.
If this is the real deal, is there a chance Sony could win back your affections?
