Sony Xperia E4 release date and pricing revealed

UK electronics retailer Clove has revealed the Sony Xperia E4 will be coming to the UK in March.

What’s more, the company has priced the device at £99.99, which places the handset firmly in the low-end market.

Sony announced its new Xperia E4 smartphone earlier this week, revealing a low-spec, low-cost 5-inch successor to last year’s Xperia E3.

The E4 boasts a 960 x 540 IPS display, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter.

It’s also running off MediaTek’s MT6582 quad-core chip, clocked at 1.3GHz. This comes paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, plus a microSD slot for good measure.

Tony McNulty, Sony’s VP for Value Category Business Management at the Mobile Comms division, said: “With Xperia E4, we wanted to offer people some of the premium Sony features they have come to expect – with unparalleled ease of use – at a highly competitive price point.”

“With a simple set-up, great screen, and unrivalled 2 day battery life, we’ve created an on-the-go entertainment device that will keep on going, wherever you are.”

The device will come packing Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box, but it’s generally assumed that Sony will upgrade the device to Lollipop in the coming months.

In terms of design, you’re still getting Sony’s typical ‘OmniBalance’ aesthetic, with a textured rear surface and a curved profile marking this phone apart from more premium offerings like the Xperia Z3.
