Sony has announced updates to its A, S and E Walkman lines to join the recently revealed water-resistant W260.
First up is the top-of-the-line NWZ-A860 series which combines a 2.8in LCD touchscreen with S-Master MX digital amplifier technology which promises to reduce noise levels and distortion. It also comes with five Clear Audio Technologies including Clear Bass, Clear Stereo and DSEE (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine).
Battery life of 23 hours (audio) / 5 hours (video) is promised and a partial charge of one hour will give you 80 per cent power while a full charge takes two hours. The A Series comes in capacities of 8GB, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. It is compatible with Sony’s range of Bluetooth headphones for wireless listening, however none are supplied with the MP3 player. The new A Series will be available at the end of August.
Next up is the NWZ-S760 (above) which again offers the possibility of wireless listening with compatibility with Sony’s Bluetooth headsets. Again Clear Audio Technologies are present with four features included, and a generous battery life of 50 hours (audio) and 10 hours (video) shoudl be enough for most audiophiles. The S760 features a 2in LCD display and comes in 8GB and 16GB models. A new interface aims to make it easier to find and navigate through your music and the bundled MediaGo software offers drag-and-drop transfer of music, videos and photos from Windows Explorer or iTunes.
Finally, the colourful entry-level NWZ-E460 series video MP3 player offers those who want looks over functionality. The E460 features a 2in LCD display and promises 50 hour (audio)/10 hour (video) battery life. It lacks Bluetooth compatibility so you’ll have to continue using the supplied EX083 headphones. The new E Series is available in 4GB and 8GB versions.
The new A, S and E series Walkman models will be available at the end of August and we’ve been in touch with Sony regarding UK pricing and we’ll let you know as soon as we do.
