Sony to unveil Xperia Z4 tablet at MWC 2015

Sony has inadvertently confirmed its latest Xperia Z-series tablet will be unveiled next week at the Mobile World Congress expo in Barcelona.

The independent XperiaBlog (via Android Police) found details of the forthcoming Xperia Z4 Tablet lurking within the official Xperia Lounge app.

Although the information has now been deleted, the site was able to glean that the Z4 Tablet will go on show for the first time on Tuesday March 3. That means it is highly likely to be announced at Sony’s MWC press event, expected to be held on March 2.

The listing also confirms the Xperia Z4 will have a “stunning 2K display, combined with the latest ultra fast processor and industry leading battery performance.”

As XperiaBlog points out, the pictured device looks very similar to the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact outed late last year. A larger version of that device with an improved spec sheet now seems likely.

Sony is also rumoured to be launching a larger 12.9-inch Xperia Tablet Ultra, while the Xperia Z4 smartphone is also likely to make an appearance at MWC.

The launches come at an important time for Sony as it mulls a potential exit from the mobile industry.

OPINION: Why Sony might abandon mobile
