Sony announce plans to improve the lot of European PS3 buyers.
It has to be said that Sony seem to be offering European purchasers of the Playstation 3 a bit of a raw deal compared with that offered over the pond, paying as we do a huge premium for its flagship console. However, while we may not be receiving the same price drops as America, we are at least going to be getting a bit more bang for our proverbial buck.
At an event last night at E3 SCEE President Davis Reeves announced that there will be a new PS3 bundle offered in Europe comprising of the console, two controllers and two games. The new package will retail for £425, which I’m sure you will all remember was the launch price of the PS3 without the games and extra controller. No mention was made of whether or not you can choose the games bundled, or whether they are to be decided by Sony. Of course whether this new package will give Sony’s console the edge it needs to compete with Microsoft and Nintendo remains to be seen.
”’Update (Gordon):”’ The bundle offers a choice of two titles from: Resistance: Fall of Man, Motorstorm, Genji: Days of the Blade, Formula One Championship Edition and Ridge Racer 7. If you’re not a fan of action or racing games you’re out of luck then.
Much like being a Sony fan and being born in Europe…
”’Update 2:”’ Sony has indicated it will cut the PS3’s US price for a second time before Christmas. Double standards? Words fail me…
