Sony SmartWatch 3 out November 16, costs £190
Sony unveiled the SmartWatch 3 – its first wearable running Android Wear – back at IFA last month, and now it has given us a firm price and release date.
The SmartWatch 3 will cost £189.99 and go on sale on November 16, which is a Sunday. It seems a bit odd to release a device on a Sunday, but that’s what it says on the Sony site. We’ve contacted Sony for confirmation and will update this story when we hear back.
Jeff Chang, Android Wear product manager, told Wareable: “Sony SmartWatch 3 is imminently launching, and that one is special. Firstly, because Sony has decided to switch to Android Wear, and it’s also the first manufacturer to add GPS to their [sic] device, so you don’t need to take your phone with you when you go for a run.”
It’s not yet available to pre-order through the Google Play Store though. A search for it returns the result “Sony SmartWatch 3 is not available in your country”.
£189.99 is the RRP, but it can be had for less elsewhere. Retailer Clove is selling it for £180, with stock due “early November”. It also promises a metal version will land in “mid November”.
