Sony has confirmed its 4K Ultra Short Throw projector will be coming to the UK this summer.
The projector – model number LSPX-W1S – can turn any white wall into a huge 147-inch UHD screen, making it a formidable bit of living room kit.
The USP of Sony’s new fare is that it’s short throw, which means you just put it on the floor really close to the wall.
That means you won’t need to install a big hunk of metal in your ceiling.
Sony first unveiled its new projector last year, talking up its ability not only to cast cinema, but also to act as a virtual window or art display in your living room.
The projector makes use of Sony’s Laser Light Source, which purportedly ensures peak brightness even at UHD quality.
Sony also claims its projector lights will last over ten times longer than traditional projector lamps.

“The 4K Ultra Short Throw project provides a completely new and innovative entertainment experience that only Sony can deliver,” said Thomas Issa, Product Manager at Sony.
“The idea is to remove conventional boundaries by merging your home design and technology into a beautiful seamless experience.”
“We’ve received unprecedented demand in Europe following the products release in the United States and Japan, and we are delighted to bring this breakthrough projector to customers looking for state-of-the-art design and product information,” Issa added.
That sounds all well and good, but there’s a big elephant in the room when it comes to Sony’s new projector, and that’s the price.
If you want 147-inches of eye-watering UHD footage beamed direct to your wall courtesy of Sony, you’ll need to shell out $50,000. UK pricing isn’t confirmed just yet, but that translates to roughly £30,000.
