Sony's NEX range has just received another new member, the Sony NEX-6. As you'd expect from its numerical tag, it slots in between the NEX-5 and NEX-7 very nicely indeed.

Sony's latest continues the company's popular habit of slotting a large APS-C image sensor (here a 16.1-megapixel example) into an incredibly compact point-and-shoot shell, then allowing you to choose from a variety of custom E-mount lenses to fit onto it.

The Sony NEX-6 comes with an OLED viewfinder, a dedicated manual PASM dial and an integrated flip-out flash. It also features Wi-Fi for easy picture sharing and app usage.

Sony's complicated-looking hybrid autofocus system should ensure a rock solid lock-on when taking pictures. With Sony's powerful Bionz processor and a maximum ISO range of 25,600, you can expect noise free DSLR-standard images.

You also get the customary NEX 3-inch LCD screen, which can be tilted up to 90 degrees up or 45 degrees down for those awkward angles and cheeky chest shots.

As you'd expect, the NEX-6 is capable of full HD 1080p video recording. It can also manage a 10 frames per second burst mode in both single and continuous autofocus modes.

The NEX-6 will be available some time in November for £710 lens-free and £830 with an all-new 16-50mm power zoom lens.
