Sony finally adds two-step verification to PlayStation Network

It is now possible to enable two-step verification for your PlayStation Network account, making sure it stays secure from potential hackers.

Two-step verification allows you to link a mobile phone number to your account, requiring the entry of a unique code each time you wish to log in.

It’s a far more secure way of managing your account’s security, meaning you don’t need to rely on a simple text password to protect your personal details.

This way you’ll be able to protect valuable information such as your name, address, and perhaps most importantly, your bank details.

Sony is still criticised for the infamous PSN hack in 2011, which saw the service expose the details of 77 million users as nobody could access their account for weeks.

With any luck, two-step verification should help secure your account more than ever before, so long as you don’t lose your phone, that is.

Two-step verification will come into play when signing into your account after logging out on PS4, PS3 or PS Vita. It can also be used to access your account on PC.

In other PSN-related news, Sony has announced that PlayStation Plus will be receiving a price increase across US and Canada later this year.
