The Walkman brand has tended to only adorn feature phones but with the announcement of the Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman, it is finally coming to a smartphone proper. Peculiar name aside it looks a decent mid-range handset for those that, after calling and texting, use there phone mostly for listening to music.
It packs a 1GHz processor, a 3.2in screen with a reasonable 320 x 480 resolution, both front and back (5 megapixel and 720p video) facing cameras, Android 2.3 operating system and something called XLOUD. This apparently enhances the audio from the phone's stereo speakers, making this phone all the better for blasting music to your fellow passengers on the train - oh joy!
What you don't get, though, are genuine enhancements to music listening convenience. Namely there are no physical controls for the music player. Still, it seems like one to keep an eye out for when it arrives later this year as it's sure to be modestly priced and, if past Walkman phones are anything to by, the bundled earphones will be pretty decent as well.
