While plenty of specs have leaked on Sony’s high-end Alpha A99, actual images of the camera had not – until now. A detailed picture of the 24.3 megapixel, full-frame flagship SLR has leaked on Xitek, where it was picked up by SonyAlphaRumors.

With a textured, rugged-looking and weatherproof finish over its magnesium alloy body, the Alpha A99 certainly makes for a pro impression, and it looks to sport all the dials and sensors you would expect. However, it’s visibly more compact than its forebears, especially the decidedly chunky Sony Alpha A900.

It also manages to look pretty sleek compared to rivals like the Canon EOS 5D Mark III, thanks to its streamlined curves and, perhaps, the replacement of an optical viewfinder with a 2.3k OLED EVF. More importantly if you’re carrying it around all day, it’s supposedly the lightest full-frame camera going at 730g.

Just to list some of the more impressive internal rumoured Alpha A99 specs again, we have a 24.3 megapixel full-frame CMOS Exmore sensor, 14-bit RAW output, up to 10fps stills shooting, an ISO range of 100 (50 extended) to 25,600, 102 AF points, Full HD video recording at 60fps, automatic HDR, dual memory card slots, and more.

One of the highlights is its 3-inch flip-out 921k screen, great for taking shots from awkward angles and to protect the display by turning it in during transport. Accessories will include a battery grip, remote, microphone, and flash. The Sony Alpha A99 is expected to launch towards the end of October at a competitive price (likely around £2200).
