Some early Nexus 5X adopters complaining of “yellow screen” issue

In a review posted on Monday, TrustedReviews asserted that the Nexus 5X was the best way to experience Android Marshmallow right now. However, for a small proportion of early adopters, it’s also the yellowest way to enjoy the new OS.

In a Reddit thread (via 9to5 Google), several Android users who have already snapped up the new LG-made handset, are complaining of a display with a yellow tinge.

The issue isn’t being experienced universally, however – but a growing number of users appear to be noting it. One poster on the thread even illustrated the difference between two Nexus 5X handsets (pictured).

Google has addressed the problem with some users already, promising to send replacements, while other Nexus 5X owners have been informed Google is looking into it.

Meanwhile, another customer representative told a handset owner that the yellow tint isn’t a fault, but simply a slightly different “colour temperature” employed for the screen.

Until there’s an official statement from Google – we’ve reached out for more information – it will be difficult to determine whether this is indeed something Google intends to tackle publicly.
