Sod you spooks, these laptops are virtually spy proof

HP has developed a new laptop display that can prevent prying eyes peering in on your work.

The new screen technology enables a setting that prevents light emerging from the sides of the display, meaning people sitting either side won’t be able to spy on your activity.

When the feature is enabled by pressing a keyboard shortcut, users will need to sit within a 70 degree arc, directly in front of the display.

It will darken the display also, but in some circumstances it’s certainly more important to shield work than enjoy those few extra nits of brightness.

HP is debuting the technology, named Sure View, on two new laptops coming next month; the 1080p, touchscreen Elitebook 1040 and Elitebook 840.

It has developed the technology in association with 3M a company that makes applicable screen filters.

The advantage of this solution is users can enjoy the best of both worlds.
