Sky Sports Ashes HD channel to air this summer’s cricket coverage

Sky Sports has announced it will be dedicating one whole channel to cricket this summer, transforming the Sky Sports 2 HD into the Sky Sports Ashes HD channel.

Between June 30 and August 31, the Sky Sports 2 channel will become the Sky Sports Ashes HD channel showing 63 days of cricketing action including coverage of the Ashes Tests.

“This is wall to wall cricket, on one channel, for the key months of the summer”, said Sir Ian Botham, England cricket legend and Sky Sport commentator. “The Ashes is the pinnacle of Test cricket and when it comes to television, cricket fans have never had it so good. Bring it on.”

The dedicated Sky Sports Ashes HD channel will cover every session within the Test series, starting with the first Test on July 10 from Trent Bridge.

“There has never been a better time to be a Sky Sports subscriber, our six channels are offering more than ever before,” said Barney Francis, MD of Sky Sports. “The Ashes series is a key part of the biggest summer of sport we’ve ever had and with The British & Irish Lions Tour, back to back Ashes, every F1 race and our biggest ever football season, there really is something for everyone.”

Sky Sports Ashes HD will also show the Women’s Ashes live. All three Twenty20 internationals between England and Australia will be covered.

Alongside the Ashes coverage, the channel will offer Live YB40, Friend’s Life t20 and the under-19 international match between England and Pakistan. Cricket Am, archive shows and Cricket Writers on TV with other highlights and commentary will also get an airing.

“With Sky Sports Ashes HD, it couldn’t be easier for viewers to enjoy their live cricket. The channel will be the home of televised cricket for the summer with an unrivalled schedule. We’re also pleased to continue our commitment to women’s cricket with live coverage of all three T20 internationals between England and Australia. I’m sure these will provide an exciting conclusion to the Women’s Ashes in August.”
