Last month Sky announced that it would be launching an Internet TV service in the first half of 2012, but at the same time it mentioned that its Sky Go app would be expanding, and today it has launched the Android version of the app.

iOS users have been enjoying Sky channels on the move for a while now, and from today selected Android smartphone owners will be able to access Sky Go too. BSkyB has announced that the app is now available in the Android Market, but only for seven phones from HTC and Samsung.

The full list is: HTC Desire, HTC Desire S, HTC Desire HD, HTC Incredible S, HTC Sensation, Samsung Galaxy S and Samsung Galaxy S2. Sky says this will mean the majority of Android users will be covered.

The line-up of channels available to both Android and iOS users has also been extended with Sky 1, Sky Arts 1 and Sky Living added to the roster of channels, which previously included Sky Sports, Sky Movies, Sky News and Sky Atlantic. Android users won’t have access to Sky Movies until later in the year.

Of course, as well as owning one of the selected phones, you will need a Sky subscription for all the different channels available on the app.

The Sky Go app is now available for free in the Android Market.
