Sky has expanded its Sky Go on demand service to include 14 new entertainment channels, boosting the total offered to 57.

The already popular on demand service has been given a timely expansion ahead of Christmas, with 14 new entertainment channels added to engage viewers.

Offered as a free service to existing Sky customers, the total number of channels available is 57 and includes six sports and 11 movie channels for people with the appropriate subscriptions.

“Sky Go has gone from strength to strength since it launched in July 2011 and now attracts over 3 million unique users quarterly”, said Luke Bradley-Jones. “The addition of these new channels is part of our continued commitment to provide our customers with a great TV experience whenever and wherever they want it, all at no extra cost.”

The new channels include MTV, Comedy Central, Gold, Watch, Dave and Alibi for programmes like Geordie Shore, The Two Ronnies and Red Dwarf X.

There’s also Nat Geo, Nat Geo Wild, Discovery, TLC, Animal Planet, History, Good Food and Eden for more intellectually stimulating broadcasting like Meet the Polygamists, Toddlers and Tiaras and My Cat from Hell.

Sky has also cut the price of Sky Go Extra down to £2.50 a month for a 12 month subscription, which allows you to download content to watch later offline.

Sky Go Extra also lets you register four devices per account, doubling the original allowance.

The service was originally launched for £5 per month, but is now half price on a rolling monthly contract, providing you sign up for at least a year.

Those with a Sky Entertainment Extra subscription will now be able to watch a range of TV box sets from ABC TV on Sky Go, including classics like Grey’s Anatomy and Desperate Housewives.
