Sky Mobile plans will be officially available October 31

Sky has stepped into the mobile communication ring, becoming the latest home comms company to take the plunge.

The television giant has announced it will begin taking Sky Mobile orders at the end of the month, and that they’ll be “competitively priced”.

Although no further information has been revealed, it’s likely that anyone will be able to sign up for a plan. However, we reckon there will be deals in place for existing Sky customers.

Chief executive Stephen van Rooyen said: “From a huge amount of research, we know that two-thirds of our customers, after being shown our proposition, would consider switching to Sky”.

The company looks set to shake things up in the mobile market, with van Rooyen adding: “the opportunity to enter and take share is substantial”.

Supposedly, Sky has been working on mobile offers for sometime. In fact, it signed a deal with O2 way back in 2015 allowing it to piggyback on its network.

What’s more, its quarterly report revealed the company had reached some final milestones in its network preparation – including live tests as well as securing roaming agreements.

Expect to see Sky take the fight to the likes of BT and Virgin from Halloween onwards.
