Shenmue 3 won’t launch until December 2017, but developer Ys Net has teased fans with some early screenshots of the highly-anticipated sequel.
The images were shown off during a presentation hosted by director Yu Suzuki at the Monaco Anime Game International Conferences (MAGIC), but were also posted to the game’s Kickstarter page.
Shenmue 3 received phenomenal backing on Kickstarter, raising $6,333,295 from 69,320 backers. This weekend, Yu Suzuki took those who pledged a certain amount to a special dinner in Monaco and held a meeting with them to discuss the game. As well as the main Kickstarter, Shenmue 3 also has a ‘Slacker Backer’ campaign for those who missed out on pledging first time round.

The screens certainly show a marked improvement over some of the earlier game footage. No doubt this will only serve to further fill fans with anticipation before remembering that there’s still 20 months to go until they get to play it.
