South Park fans riding high off last night’s season premiere have today received some less than awesome news; The Fractured But Whole video game won’t be here until next year.
The hotly-anticipated follow-up to 2014's The Stick of Truth was expected to arrive on December 8, but has been delayed until early next year.
In a brief blog post, Ubisoft said the additional time would help developers ensure the game lives up to expectations.
The post reads: “South Park: The Fractured But Whole will now launch on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, calendar Q1 2017. The development team wants to make sure the game experience meets the high expectations of fans and the additional time will help them achieve this goal.”
The franchise is no stranger to delays. The Stick of Truth was originally announced in 2011, but was held up until March 2014.
Thankfully, most fans and critics felt that game was worth the wait. Judging by our early experiences with this iteration, we’re hopeful the same might be true this time.
Regardless, this is a kick squarrr in the nuts for South Park fans.
