Send a tweet to order your pizza, says Domino’s

Pizza giant Domino’s is about to roll out a unique new way of ordering grub online.

Starting May 20, the company will kick off its ‘tweet-to-order’ system, letting US customers order pizza through Twitter.

The company will thus become the first major corporation to use Twitter in a persistent way to place and complete orders.

What’s more, you don’t even need to send an elaborate tweet; Domino’s will accept the pizza emoji, as long as it’s tweeted to the @Dominos Twitter handle.

It’s the epitome of convenience,” says Patrick Doyle, Domino’s CEO, speaking to USA Today.

He continued: “We’ve got this down to a five-second exchange.”

All customers need to do is register with Domino’s, store payment and delivery details, and associate the account with a Twitter handle.

Once that’s done, hungry Twitterers will then be free to tweet Domino’s for pizza, reducing the hassle of placing an order.

It’s not yet clear what pizza you actually get by tweeting Domino’s, however, as the system is distinctly less complex than the dedicated delivery website.

The most likely scenario is that you set a favourite order on your Domino’s account, which is then sent out once the Twitter page receives a tweet.

Unfortunately, Domino’s hasn’t made any announcements in regards to a UK launch, but our pizza-caked fingers are assuredly crossed…
