Now all Sony Ericsson Walkman phones can match the largest Apple nano, interesting...
In an announcement more important than most for owners of Sony Ericsson handsets, the Memory Stick PRO Duo has just received a large storage bump to 4GB.
Ironically, this saviour for Sony related products everywhere comes not from the King of Proprietary itself but memory guru SanDisk who has – or shares – flash patents on every format out there.
Nicely doubling the previous flagship capacity of 2GB, SanDisk’s offering is also being strongly promoted to Sony digital camera enthusiasts but I have a feeling it will prove most popular with W800i and W900i owners. The increase puts these models on an even playing field with SE’s new W950i and, even more interestingly, Apple’s top of the range nano.
Priced at a very reasonable $239.99, the memory still may prove too expensive for all but the early adopters, however the inevitable price drops over the coming months should see an intriguing battle emerge. For those of you with deep pockets and impatient minds, you’ll be keen to know the SanDisk’s 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo ships in March.
