Samsung Z1

A series of leaked images has leaked online showing off a device purported to be the much-mooted Samsung Z1.

The Z1 is a fast-approaching Samsung blower tipped to run off the firm’s custom-built Tizen OS.

It’s expected to be an entry-level handset, and is landing as the first example of Samsung’s newly refined naming strategy that looks to simplify gadget tags for boggled consumers.

The newly leaked images show off a white handset with the expected physical home button, as well as relatively thick bezels and a plasticky rear that you’d expect from a low-end Samsung smartphone.

The main difference is actually with the central home button, which now takes a squared design as opposed to previously rectangular offerings.

The report, courtesy of HiTech.ru, also claims that the release date will be January 18, with the rollout kicking off in India.

The device will, allegedly, then rollout to China in February, with the device landing on Samsung’s South Korean home soil at some point in the first half of the year.

Pricing is tipped at 100,000 won, which translates to just over £58 sterling – a bargain blower indeed.

As far as specs go, we’re expecting a 4-inch display with an 800 x 480 resolution.

Alongside this, we should see a dual-core 1.2GHz Spreadtrum CPU, 768MB of RAM, 4GB of built-in storage, a microSD slot, and a 1500mAh battery.

It will also have 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and FM radio support, while your Instagram feed is handled by a 3-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing shooter.

It's worth mentioning that it's not yet clear whether this super-saver device will ever make it to UK shores, but we'll keep you posted as we find out more.
