Samsung to launch its odd Korea-only accessories worldwide

Samsung is bringing six of its mobile accessories, previously only available in Korea, to the global market in the next month.

The rather odd list of gadgets includes a motion-controlled  ‘wireless speaker bottle’, that resembles a water canteen for some reason, and comes with Samsung Lux Manager app compatibility.

Using the app, users can change the colour of the lighting on the speaker itself, to “find the perfect hue to accentuate both the moment and their mood”.

It also changes its lighting depending on which position its in; if someone puts it in a ‘pouring’ position the lights change, while shaking it causes the lights to change colour.

Alongside the speaker bottle, global customers will also be able to pick up a useful-looking wireless charging tray, capable of charging two devices at once.

If you plug a cable into the compact tray, it’ll even power up three devices at once, making it perhaps the most practical of the newly available products.

Elsewhere, there’s a portable battery that comes in 5,100 mAh and 10,200 mAh capacities, and continues the kitchen utensil aesthetic with its ‘Kettle’ design.

Other products include a disc-shaped portable speaker, a portable USB-powered lamp, and some headphones.

Why is Samsung rolling out these products, formely restricted to Korea, to the rest of the world? Well, that part is unclear, but it could very well have something to do with the company suffering a 95% dip in operating profit during Q3 compared to the same period last year – most of which is down to the Note 7 fiasco.

Samsung says the new gadgets will be available ‘worldwide beginning in November’, but pricing is yet to be announced for individual countries.

The company also says the accessories can be found either at samsung.com or “major regional shopping sites”. We’ll have more once Sammy reveals international pricing.
