Samsung Smart TVs now have 4oD app

Samsung Smart TV owners will now be able to download the Channel 4 on Demand app from the Samsung Apps store.

The 4oD app will offer catch-up TV from the last 30 days from Channel 4, E4, Film4 and More4, alongside a host of archived material including the IT Crowd, The Inbetweeners and Father Ted.

Channel 4 favourites like Peep Show will also be available to watch on demand via the Samsung Smart TV 4oD service.

“We’re pleased to be able to extend the availability of 4oD, our successful video on demand service, to Samsung’s Smart TVs as we continue to widen the reach of Channel 4 content onto key platforms,” said Channel 4’s Head of Video on Demand, Sarah Milton.

“Smart TV owners will now be able to catch up with recent popular Channel 4 programmes and access many shows from Channel 4’s vast archive spanning 30 years of broadcasting – on demand via their television.”

Channel 4 has been steadily extended the reach of their 4oD app with the goal of achieving maximum accessibility, akin to that of the BBC iPlayer. Sky TV recently added 4oD to their Sky on Demand services, joining instant access to Sky 1, Sky Atlantic, ITV and BBC programming.

Sky Go users were also treated to Channel 4 content, as the channel became the first terrestrial network to offer customers their content on the mobile Sky TV service. Sky Go Extra customers are also able to download Channel 4 content to watch offline on their smartphones and tablets.

The catch-up TV service will be available to anyone with a 2012 Smart TV model or newer via the Samsung Apps store for free. Samsung Smart TV owners will have 4oD access alongside other on-demand services like Netflix, YouTube, ITV player, LoveFilm and Demand 5.
