The age of the flip phone has long since passed – at least here in the UK. But Samsung is readying its new SM-W2017 for a China release and now we’ve seemingly got a new look at the device.
Leaked shots appear to show the upcoming handset complete with always-on display and a decidedly sleek design.
The images come via Chinese site MyDrivers, and seem to reveal the external screen as sharing the always-on technology as the Galaxy S7.
Samsung’s newest flip-phone, said to be code-named Veyron, is expected to arrive with some serious hardware, including a Snapdragon 820 processor and 4GB of RAM.

There’s also thought to be NFC support, hinting at Samsung Pay support, a USB Type-C port, and a 12-megapixel rear camera alongside a 5-megapixel offering on the front of the device.
Other rumours suggest a fingerprint scanner on the rear of the phone, and Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 as the OS.
All of which puts the SM-2017 on a similar level to the Galaxy S7 – and with dual screens, the phone is arguably more capable than Samsung’s flagship phone.
Samsung is yet to confirm Veyron as official, but it seems a sure thing at this point, judging by the amount of leaks and rumours.
Of course, without official confirmation, it’s best to take all news of the handset with due caution.
While it’s unlikely the phone will launch outside China at first, Samsung may decide to bring this year’s model to more countries if there’s enough demand.
We’ll have to wait and see whether that comes to fruition, but it seems the company really is putting a lot into the SM-W2017 in terms of hardware and features, so we’re holding out hope.
