Samsung reveals two new Windows 8 monitors

Ahead of an official CES debut, Samsung has revealed its new Series 7 monitor range, which is comprised of two monitors specifically designed with Windows 8 in mind.

The Samsung Series 7 Touch SC770 and the Samsung Series 7 SC750 each sport a unique feature that will enhance a Windows 8 PC set-up in some way.

The Samsung Series 7 Touch SC770 is a 24-inch monitor that supports, as you might expect, touch input. The screen’s 10-point multi-touch capabilities should make swiping through that live tile-infested interface much easier.

As Samsung itself puts it, “users can drag, rotate or select objects on the monitor using their fingers.”

The Series 7 Touch also features a stand with 60-degree tilt capabilities, as well as an ever-so-slim bezel, rather like Samsung’s latest TV sets.

The Samsung Series 7 SC750, meanwhile, doesn’t feature any touch magic. It has its own tricks to boast off, chiefly its 90-degree rotating facility. Yes, you can turn this 27-inch display on its side courtesy of a uniquely jointed stand.

Samsung Windows 8 monitor 3

Both the Samsung Series 7 Touch SC770 and the Series 7 SC750 feature 1920 x 1080 resolutions, as well as 5000:1 aspect ratios – that’s around five times that of your bog standard monitor. Add to that a healthy 178 degree viewing angle and HDMI connectivity and you have a pretty complete set-up.

Both monitors will be made available in the first quarter of 2013, and will be on display at Samsung’s CES stand in Las Vegas from January 8. Hopefully Samsung will supply some pricing information then.
