Samsung Hennessy officially unveiled as dual-screen flip-phone

Samsung has officially unveiled the Samsung Hennessy, a dual-screen flip phone that has been rumoured for quite a while now.

Taking Samsung fans back a couple of decades, the flip-phone was officially launched by the Chinese Samsung Mobile site with the model number Samsung SCH-W789 Hennessy.

Unfortunately, for those who fancy a bit of hipster retro action may be disappointed as it looks like the Hennessy is only heading to Chinese markets for the time being.

Samsung Hennessy Features
The Samsung Hennessy has a duo of 3.3-inch 320 x 480p resolution screens with the addition of three physical buttons on the front of the device for home screen control.

Far from the specs of powerhouse flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S4, the Hennessy has a 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM and microSD card expandable 8GB of internal storage.

Powered by a 1500mAh battery, the Hennessey has a 5-megapixel rear camera but lacks a front-facing video calling snapper.

Running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the flip-phone features Samsung’s TouchWiz UI, but we expect it won’t be the latest version as featured on new smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom, S4 Active or S4 Mini.

Samsung has also included the ChatON cross-platform messaging service that it introduced in 2011. This will enable Samsung Hennessy owners (how many of those there will be remains to be seen) to use their T9 texting skills to communicate with Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone and iOS ChatON app users.

Although the Samsung Hennessy may never make it to British or American markets, we’d quite like to spend a few days with a bit of retro chic, although we’re sure it would get old pretty quick.
