Samsung Gear S3 smartwatch gets pre-launch debut on Walmart

Samsung may be gearing up to launch three new Gear smartwatches – is this our best glimpse of them so far?

Walmart has listed five different screen protector covers for the upcoming Samsung Gear S3, and it even included images of the unannounced smartwatch. The protectors are branded ‘iLLumiShield’, and come in a range of variants, including ‘Ultra Clear’, ‘AquaShield’, and ‘Matte Anti-Glare’.

Unfortunately, it’s not exactly clear whether the images really depict the actual Samsung Gear S3. There’s every chance these could simply be placeholder images, pending the reveal of the final design. That said, we wouldn’t be disappointed by the smartwatch pictured; it looks distinctly high-end, and could easily be mistaken for a normal, luxury wristwatch.

Samsung has already basically confirmed that the Gear S3 is coming this September at IFA 2016, Berlin’s annual technology tradeshow. The wearable – a sequel to the Gear S2 – is expected to feature a rotary bezel, and will reportedly ship in three different variants: Gear S3 Classic, Gear S3 Frontier, and Gear S3 Explorer.

Unfortunately, we can’t verify any of this information until the official launch, so take any pre-reveal leaks with due caution.
