After adding support for non-Samsung Android phones, we could well see the Gear S2 smartwatch play nice with iPhones in the future
That’s according to a Samsung spokesperson who offered a glimmer of hope that the Gear S2 could be paired with an iPhone telling Digital Spy, “We are looking at possibilities to open it up to iOS,” adding that, “Because we opened it up to Android, we are looking at this.”
So when could we see Gear S2 iOS support? Perhaps unsurprisingly the spokesperson wasn’t willing to commit to a timeframe on when that could happen only saying, “We are positively looking into opening it up.”

Samsung officially announced the Gear S2 smartwatch with a round display and rotating bezel at IFA in three models including an Apple Watch-baiting Classic version and a 3G model that also includes new e-sim card technology.
For the first time, Samsung has decided to allow for its Tizen smartwatch to work with Android smartphones but it won’t work with all of them. You’ll need to be running Android 4.4 KitKat and own a handset with at least 1.5GB RAM.
Apple’s own Watch only works with iOS-running devices, and while it would seem odd to think Tim Cook and company would allow it, the company did recently add Android Wear support for iPhones. Currently, the LG Watch Urbane is officially the only Android Wear watch that works, but some users have had luck with the Moto 360 as well.
The Gear S2, Gear S2 Classic and Gear S2 3G are expected to go on sale before the end of the year but Samsung has yet to announce firm release dates or UK pricing.
