Finally! Galaxy Tab S3 tablet might be incoming after all

Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 27

If you’ve been waiting around for Samsung's Galaxy Tab S3, we feel your pain. But here’s some potentially exciting news.

The long-awaited Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 tablet is going to launch within the next five months, at least according to a new report. Specialist blog Sammobile reports that Samsung is planning to debut the new tablet in the first quarter of 2017, although an exact date isn’t given.

There are a number of prime opportunities to launch a new tablet next year, although two stand out particularly. The first is CES 2017, the Las Vegas tradeshow that will run from January 5 to January 8 next year. The second is MWC 2017, a Barcelona-based conference scheduled for February 27 to March 2. It wouldn’t be surprising to see a new Galaxy Tab launch at either event.

According to today’s report, two different versions of the Galaxy Tab S3 will launch, sporting the model numbers SM-T820 and SM-T825 – denoting Wi-Fi-only and 4G/LTE variants. Unfortunately, specific hardware and pricing details are still unavailable.

The last core entry to the Galaxy Tab series was in September 2015, when the Galaxy Tab S2 was released. Samsung did announce a tablet at CES 2016, although it was the Windows-powered Galaxy TabPro S, rather than the Android slate many were expecting. The Galaxy Tab S3 was then rumoured to debut at MWC 2016, then in summer, then at IFA 2016 in September – none of which came to fruition.

In any case, given Samsung’s lethargic approach to launching a new Tab S device, we wouldn’t get too excited. Although Sammobile has a good track record for Samsung-specific leaks, we can’t verify the information in the report. As such, take this report – and any other leaks – with due caution.

We’ve asked Samsung for comment and will update this article with any response.

I have a Tab S and eager to upgrade as my 16gb are full on a monthly basis, and I have to keep deleting things just to keep my tablet going. There are not that many apps, and any media of photos or files are stored on the external card, and going through the apps each month to part store them on the SD card is a pain.
* So first off nothing less than 32gb, with ideally an affordable 64gb versions
* 4gb RAM minimum, again, ideally something more.
* Equal screen resolution, as opposed to going backwards with the Tab S2
* Equal or larger size, again as opposed to dropping to 8inch from 8,4???
* Marshmellow out of the box...of course
* Standard front and rear camera, equal to what is current
* Longlife battery
* SD card slot

Imagine if you could have a USB slot in the side. Then imagine that you had a half dozen USB memory sticks, one filled with music, another with all you Bond films, another with TV series box sets. So going on a trip, you just pick them all up and off you go, as opposed to filling up on-board memory or even the card.

I have the tab S2 and it is a great high end tablet ... I just want the same or better with a bigger battery. 4000 mha is not enough for a tablet even if it is 8.0 inch.
