We’ve been waiting around for Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S3 for what seems like an age, but evidence of an imminent release is mounting.
A batch of Samsung tablets destined for “research and development” purposes has been shipped into India, and revealed to the world via local import/export tracker Zauba. What’s interesting is that the model number of the tablets is SM-T825, which doesn’t match up with any existing Samsung tablet.
However, rumours have long pointed to the next flagship Samsung Galaxy S- tablet featuring that model number, specifically the LTE variant. In fact, specialist blog Sammobile is convinced that the tablet will land in the first quarter of next year, as outlined in an exclusive report published last month. It’s also worth noting that a suspected Galaxy Tab S3 has already made its way through the USA’s FCC for certification.
According to Zauba, each Samsung SM-T825 tablet is valued at 34,138 Indian Rupees, which translates to around £400 – about the price of a flagship Samsung tablet, coincidentally. All units were shipped from Samsung’s home turf of South Korea, and there were eight tablets in total.
Fans of the Galaxy Tab series will surely be excited, as the last entry to the range was the Galaxy Tab S2, which launched way back in July 2015. Samsung has remained quiet on the matter of a new Galaxy S- tablet, but all things appear to point to a new release coming shortly.
The next best opportunities for launch would be the CES 2017 tradeshow in Las Vegas in January, or Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress in February. Stay tuned.
