Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 release date leaks

Last year’s Samsung Galaxy Tab S was a hit with reviewers, so it comes as no surprise that there’s a sequel in the works.

According to Sammobile, the South Korean tech giant has four different versions of the tablet in the works.

What’s more, the report claims the devices will be announced in June, although it doesn’t offer details on how the information has been sourced.

The original Galaxy Tab S was launched in June 2014, so it would make sense for Samsung to follow suit exactly one year later.

There will purportedly be two core variants of the Tab S – the Tab S2 9.7 and the Tab S2 8.0, the numbers relating to screen size.

Both of these units will also ship in two further variants, namely Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi plus LTE.

The report goes on to detail how the new Tab S will feature a 4:3 aspect ratio display, and will be thinner than Apple’s iPad Air.

Earlier reports suggest that the Galaxy Tab S will be built from ‘premium material’, which is most likely metal.

It also looks set to carry Samsung’s flagship 64-bit Exynos chipset, as well as 3GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage, and a microSD slot to boost the capacity further.

It will run on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop straight out of the box, and will offer LTE Cat. 6 connectivity, which can handle a theoretical maximum download speed of 300Mbps.

Snapping potential comes courtesy of an 8-megapixel primary camera and a 2.1-megapixel rear-facing shooter.

The 8-inch device will have dimensions of 198.2 x 134.5 x 5.4mm according to rumours, while the 9.7-inch model will measure 237.1 x 168.8 x 5.4mm.

The weights are 260g and 407g respectively – the iPad Air 2 weighs 437g, so both are lighter.
